Here’s a breakdown of the solid bronze gate hardware from Coastal Bronze used on this particular outdoor arched gate project. Featuring old world designed hardware as manufactured by Coastal Bronze, this installation includes a combination of 4×4 Cast Bronze Butt Hinges, Drop Bar Latch and a Thumblatch to operate the drop bar from the inside. With a focus on gate hardware, Coastal Bronze fills a gap in the hardware industry for a product that will never rust in extreme outdoor conditions. As the bronze hardware ages, the product will form a greenish patina.
This outswing gate does not use a gate stop because a full length jamb is installed on the inside of the post (latch side, 3rd photo in collage below) to stop the gate from swinging inwards. In the situation that a door jamb is not installed, we strongly suggest the use of a gate stop to stop the door from swinging in the wrong direction and to protect the entire hardware assembly (hinges and drop bars) when the gate is shut, or inadvertently slammed.

What is bronze?
